Combat Wrestling grappling tournaments were first held in Japan, during the 1990s, when the founder of the sport, Kiguchi Noriakifrom the famous Kiguchi Dojo, developed the style, so all Wrestling, Sambo, Judo and BJJ practitioners could test their skills under a rule set, providing a fair chance to all grappling styles.

Two decades later, the International Combat Wrestling Federation (FICW) was formed by Ivaylo Ivanov, to introduce the format globally, attract practitioners from all grappling sports, gaining popularity around the world and develop the rule set into a fully independent sport.

Today FICW is spread on four continents, growing and working with people from all races, genders and religions without discrimination of any kind.
